Dr. Baker had a non-traditional journey to medicine. After serving in the United States Army, he began a career at DuPont Automotive Products, where he became the first African American account manager. After fifteen years, he left his corporate job to pursue his dream of medicine.
He is married and the father of three sons. He remains heavily involved in the African American community here in Phoenix.
Dr. DeLana Gardner, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She was educated in Seventh Day Adventist schools and naturally developed a deep-rooted passion for serving others. This innate desire contributed to and shaped her career path. Dr. Gardner attended Frontier University, where she obtained her master’s in the science of nursing as a family nurse practitioner in 2013 and 2017 graduated with a doctorate degree. Dr. Gardner currently practices general and psychiatric medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. She is also a course Faculty member at Frontier University in Versailles, Kentucky. Over the years, Dr. Gardner has provided care to patients in the acute care setting, labor and delivery, emergency department, and caring for patients in the community. She currently serves on the board of Health & Empowerment Foundation, providing care to the public in various regions of Kenya, Africa. One of Dr. Gardner’s favorite quotes: “If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain” (Androzzo, 1945).
